The<br \/>\nproposed building is a skilled nursing facility designed in the<br \/>\ntraditonal style, with a central dining area and a central nurses&#8217;<br \/>\nstation on each floor. The first floor is a designated Alzheimer&#8217;s care<br \/>\nunit. It is 84 feet high, with 380 beds. They expect to have<br \/>\napproximately 300 employees working in 3 shifts. Zoning regulations<br \/>\nrequire 1 parking space for every 14 beds. The building is designed<br \/>\nwith 20 parking spaces, meeting this minimum requirement. A service<br \/>\ndriveway will run the width of the block one way, from E. 7th to E. 8th<br \/>\nstreet providing access to the rear service entrances for ambulettes<br \/>\nand deliveries, as well as parking. <\/p>\n<p>There are two outdoor areas. These plans were approved in 1993 by<br \/>\nDOB but construction has been delayed due to lack of funding and state<br \/>\napprovals.
